One of the questions we are all asking today is "When will fuel prices finally stabilize?"
The honest answer is that no one can predict global markets with complete certainty. However, after many years in international logistics, I believe there are reasons for cautious optimism.
The shipping industry has experienced significant pressure due to geopolitical conflicts, disruptions in major shipping corridors, and fluctuations in energy prices. Events affecting the Middle East and important maritime routes have increased transportation costs worldwide.
That said, many analysts expect gradual stabilization during the second half of 2026, assuming geopolitical tensions do not escalate further. Shipping capacity continues to adjust, and global supply chains have become much more resilient than they were several years ago.
My advice to importers and exporters remains the same: plan conservatively, maintain strong relationships with your logistics partners, and stay flexible. Companies that adapt quickly will continue to find opportunities, regardless of market conditions.
At Merkan, we remain committed to helping our clients navigate uncertainty while keeping their cargo moving safely and efficiently.
